    Islam was founded in 622 AD by Mohammed the Prophet, in the "Hegira", "Hijra", flight or migration from Mecca to Medina, Arabia, and marks the beginning of Islam and the Muslim calendar.
    Islam, means "submission" or "surrender" to the will of the one God, Allah... but actually "Islam" is derived from the word "salam", which means primarily "peace" and in a secondary sense "surrender"... so, the full connotation of "Islam" is "the perfect peace that comes when one's life is surrendered to God".
    Muslim (also spelled "Moslem"), is the corresponding adjective to Islam, and it means "he who submits" or "surrenders" to Allah... and in a full sense means "the perfect peace that comes to the one who surrenders his life to Allah"... however, the Koran speaks about the Muslims primarily as "the believers".
    The sacred scripture of Islam is The Koran or Holy Quran which contains God's revelations to Mohammed. The Hadith and Sunnah. The Hadith: What Muhammad the prophet said and did. The Sunnah are the rules and regulations of Muslim life, with different "sharia" (norms of life). Holy Scriptures
    Believes: Muslims follow a strict monotheism with one creator who is just, omnipotent and merciful. They also believe in Satan who drives people to sin, and that all unbelievers and sinners will spend eternity in Hell. Muslims who sincerely repent and submit to God will return to a state of sinlessness and go to Paradise after death. Alcohol, drugs, and gambling should be avoided and they reject racism. They respect the earlier prophets, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus, but regard the concept of the divinity of Jesus as blasphemous and do not believe that he was executed on the cross.
    The 5 Pillars of Islam: The Five Pillars of Islam: The religious obligations of all Muslims are summed up in the Five Pillars of Islam, and are:
        1- Recite the shahadah the Profession of Faith, There is no God but Allah, and Muhammad is his prophet. A Muslim is supposed to pray it at least once in his lifetime, but they actually pray it many times a day. The greatest phrase of the Arabic language: "La ilaha illa Allah", "there is no God but Allah".
        2- Perform the salat , prayer 5 times a day while facing Mecca. The "Tasbih" ("Rosary"), or "Subha, is like the Catholics Rosary
        3- Donate regularly to charity via the zakat, a 2.5% charity tax, and through additional donations to the needy.
        4- Fast during the month of Ramadan, the month that Mohammed received the Qu'ran from Allah.
        5- Make at least one pilgrimage to Mecca if economically and physically possible. 5 Pillars The Hajj The Hajj around Mecca
    Branches: The two main divisions of Islam are the Sunni (90%) and the Shiite; the Wahabis are the most important Sunni sect, while the Shiite sects include the Assassins, the Druses, and the Fatimids, among numerous others.     ABRAHAM is the "Father" of the three Great Western Religions: "Judaism", "Christianity", and "Islam".
    ISLAM has a noble ancestry, having roots in the religions of both the Jews and the Christians. Perhaps the time has arrived when brothers and sisters of the Bible and of the Koran can find a common bond in mutual brotherhood and peace.
    Islam is not only a "religion", but a "total way of life"; there is no distinction between the sacred and the secular, the religious leader is the political leader, and every aspect of the individual life should be Islam: Dress, food, and every detail of the family or social life... the way of living of the Muslims is similar to the way of living of the Jews, and one of the glories of Islam consists in having embodied the beautiful sentiment of Jesus into definite laws.
    Islam is today the second largest religion of the world, after Christianity, with 1,100 million members (1995), and the fastest growing religion.

    The 3 Great Western Religions:
    Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, have "Abraham" for "Father", and the three of them adore the same only one God, or Yahweh, or Allah... the same "person" pronounced in the different languages...
    The same God who made the hands of a Jew, made the feet of a Christian, and the eyes of a Muslim... we are all "brothers", made by the same Father, children of the same God... and it should be a good reason to love each other, instead of fighting against each other, as shamefully has often happened in history.
    I pray the Lord God to unite the hearts of these three great "monotheistic" religions... because only God can do it!... "an error in religion" is worst than a cancer in the heart... it can ruin our only life on earth, and it can bring you or me to eternal Hell!... if you feel I am in "error", please, help me to eradicate it, even if it hurts, like any surgery does... it is the best way to show me your love.

The Muslims I have met are good, hard working people, in New York, Palestine, India, Africa... and I pray God all the Muslims to become Christians... praise the Lord, Subhanah Allah, Elhamdu Allah, Allahu Akbard!.

Abraham ("father of multitudes") had two sons: "Ishmael", from his servant Hagar the Egyptian (Gen. 16), and "Isaac", from his wife Sarah, at their old age (Gen. 21).

- The Jews and Christians are the descendants of Isaac.... Jacob... his 12 sons... the 12 Tribes of Israel.
- The Muslims are the descendants of Ishmael and his wife Fatima ("peace").

In the Bible, God prophesied a "multitude" for the descendants of Isaac, and also a "multitude" for the descendants of Ishmael (Gen.17:20)... and this prophecy has been fulfilled to the letter: Today, the descendants of Isaac are over 2,000 million (Christians)... and the descendants of Ishmael are over 1,000 million (Muslims)... in fact, the two largest religious bodies on earth.

In the Bible, "Isaac" was the son that Abraham brought to Mount Moriah (Jerusalem) to be sacrificed (Gen.22)... The Koran claims it was his son "Ishmael"... the "son" of Abraham to be sacrificed was the type of "Jesus", the divine son actually sacrificed to safe the whole world, in the same Mount Moriah (Jerusalem).

    Under Muhammad the 5 tribes of Medina ("City of the Prophet") were united into a federation, though 2 of them were Jews. Mecca was conquered for Islam, making his way to the Kaaba stone which had been the religious focus of Mecca since time immemorial and which he now rededicated to Allah, accepted the almost mass conversion of the city but returned himself to Medina.
    Muhammad himself launched 80 war campaigns during the ten years from his migration in A.D. 622 to his death in A.D. 632 though some of them were nothing more than reconnaissance missions... http://www.biblia.com/islam/islam.htm
    Only 10 years after the Hegira, Muhammad died with virtually all of Arabia under his control... with all the power of armies, police, civil and religious services, no other Arab had ever succeeded in uniting his countrymen as he did... He established a "religion", and the basis for a " world empire", where the leader is the head of both the political state and the religious structure.

After the death and burial of Muhammad, the political and spiritual leadership of the Muslims was assumed by the "Caliphs" ("successors"), or "deputies of the Prophet", who ruled Islam in his place in all aspects except as prophet.

Within a decade they took control of Egypt, Palestine, Syria, Iraq, Iran, all Mesopotamia... capturing Damascus in 635, Jerusalem in 640, Cairo in 641, Alexandria in 642...

... Then, to Africa (North and sub-Saharan), Asia (India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, China), Europe (Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Balkans, Vienna, Kiev)... stopped in France by Charles Martel.

Today, the same expansion attitude prevails, with wars kingdoms or empires, wars all over the glove... and special use of terrorism groups and suicide bombers where Muslims are overpowered.

Today there are 1,100 Muslims, and Islam is not only Arab, but it is represented in all the major races and cultures... Indonesia has the largest membership of Muslims: 130 million.
