Pope Benedict XVI and Islam
Cartoons of Mohammad
Cardinal Ratzinger and Pope Benedict XVI

Pope Benedict XVI came under fire from the Muslim community since  after quoting a 14th century Byzantine emperor who said the Prophet Mohammad had brought "things of evil and inhuman", during a speech in Germany on September 14, 2006

The Pope's speech quoted from a book recounting a conversation between 14th century Byzantine Christian Emperor Manuel Paleologos II and an educated Persian on the truths of Christianity and Islam.

The Pope said: I quote the Emperor, 'Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached'."

The Pope described the phrase on Islam as "brusque", while neither explicitly agreeing with nor repudiating it.

Turkey's top Islamic cleric Ali Bardakoglu and Mohammed Mahdi Akef, the leader of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood, called for an apology.

The suicide bombers and terrorism are evil and inhuman... yes, and war too!, and the history of Islam  is a history of wars and conquest.

Many people argue that the "suicide bombers" are fanatics, extremists... but the fact is that they are "good, devote, humble Muslims", following the teachings of the Koran and of Mohammed Himself...

    1- Mohammed says:
1- "Invitation first" (that is, call them first to embrace Islam).
2- "If they refuse, then war." "The sword", said Mohammed, "is the key of heaven and hell; a drop of blood shed in the cause of Allah, or a night spent in arms, is of more avail than two months of fasting or prayer: whosoever falls in battle, his sins are forgiven, and at the day of judgment his limbs shall be supplied by the wings of angels and cherubim.
    2- Mohammed himself:
As a Muslim web site states, "roughly speaking, the Prophet launched 80 campaigns during the ten years from his migration in A.D. 622 to his death in A.D. 632. Some of these campaigns were nothing more than reconnaissance missions..." http://www.al-islam.org/restatement/20.htm

But here are some of the real wars fought by the Prophet Himself, again, as stated in Muslim web sites:

The Battle of Badr    The Battle of Badr-2.   The Battle of Uhud   The Battle of Uhud-2   The Battle of Trench - Battle of the Trench
The Banu Quraizah - Banu Quraizah -   The Battle of Haibar    The Battle of Mut'ah -Battle of Mu'tah  The Conquest of Makkah
The Battle of Hunayn -bThe battle of Hunayn -  The Battle of Ta'if - Siege of Ta'if -   The Battle of Tabuk - Battle of Tabuk -
    Conquest of Mecca -Conquest_of_Mecca
I regret some of these web-sites are not in use on September, 2,006

3    - The Quran:

There are 123 verses in the Quran about killing and fighting. (Jihad)
Here are 4 of those 123 verses:

1- "O believers, fight the unbelievers who are near to you, and let them find in you a harshness; and know that Allah is with the godfearing" (Sura al-Tawba 9:123). the Quran
The unbelievers are the Jews, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Indians, atheists... any one who is not a Muslim.

2- "Fight against those who believe not in Allah and the Last Day and do not forbid what Allah and His Messenger, have forbidden -- such men as practice not the religion of truth, being of those who have been given the Book -- until they pay tribute out of hand and have been humbled" (Sura al-Tawba 9:29). the Quran

3- "The punishment of those who wage war against God and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter;" (Sura Al Ma idah 5:33). the Quran

4- "Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not." (Sura AL-BAQARA 2:16) the Quran
