Ecumenism

"Ecumenism" is a movement trying to unite all Christian churches.

Mother Therese told me in her Mother-house in Calcutta, "if every Christian would live the love of Jesus, every Hindu would become a Christian".

The best way to help Ecumenism for you and me, is to live the love of Jesus in our hearts, to love our neighbors as we love ourselves... to be a "Saint" is the best weapon to unite Christians... and non-Christians!.

The "modern ecumenical movement", started in 1910 and led to the formation of the "World Council of Churches" in 1948. It has now become for Catholics as well one of the greatest religious facts of our time.

The "World Council of Churches", established in 1948 in Amsterdam, is a permanent organization with headquarters located in Geneva, Switzerland. It has 324 churches, with 450 million communicants in 100 countries, and provides opportunities for meeting, consultation and cooperative action with respect to doctrine, practice, social mission, evangelism and missionary work... General assemblies have been held in the USA, India, Sweden, Kenya, Canada, Australia...

... The headquarters in the USA, at 475 Riverside Drive, New York, N.Y. 10115.

The "Catholic Church", has always tried to have ecumenism, most specially through the good Pope John XXIII, "only one Church of Christ"! (John 10:16).

... The "Decree on Ecumenism", of the Vatican II should be read by every Christian: The so many elements that Christians of all denominations have in common, like the Bible, the life of grace, faith, hope, and charity, along with other interior gifts of the Holy Spirit... the confession of Jesus Christ as God and Lord and as mediator between God and man; belief in the Trinity; Christian life and worship; prayer; faith in action; concern with moral questions...

... Popes Paul VI and John Paul II have had several personal meetings with Orthodox, Anglicans, and other Protestant leaders, with joint ecumenical reports.

... International and national commissions have made hundreds of joint reports between Catholics, Orthodox and many Protestant denominations... Openness, respect, and forgiveness are the first fruits of real love!... and most specially, humility, humility, and humility...

... But it is through Christ's Catholic Church alone that the fullness of the means of salvation can be obtained. It is to the apostolic college alone, of which Peter is the head, that our Lord entrusted all the blessings of the New Covenant... in fact, the "successor of Peter", the "Pope", is one the key elements to obtain real ecumenism.

"Catholic Ecumenical Agencies", are the "Pontifical Council", in the Vatican, and the "Bishop's Committee" in every country.
