Commentary:

These two documents, the Code of the Canon Law and the Catechism of the Catholic Church,  are two treasures of the Catholic Church. They synthesize all the laws and teachings of the Church. Every Catholic should have them at home, and be well informed.

However, the Code of Canon Law should be updated: For example, the Canon 230 states: "Lay men whose age and talents meet the requirements prescribed by decree of the Episcopal Conference, can be given the stable ministry of lector and of acolyte"... however, since 1983 things have changed, women can also be stable lectors, and acolytes, and Eucharistic ministers... I know it has taken years to update this Code, but I feel it is important to update it now, at least a few things, having in account the so many good changes in the Catholic Church during the last two decades.

The Catechism should be more specific and complete about certain things: For example, the list of "individual grave sins" in the Index of page 815 is obviously very incomplete... Other example: Some priests say you have to Confess after masturbation in order to be able to receive the Eucharist; other priests say you can receive the Eucharist after masturbation, without prior Confession...

There are so many wonderful teachings of the Catholic Church!: Ecumenical Councils, Papal Encyclicals and teachings, ordinances from the Vatican, Bishops... but so many, that it is difficult to keep up with them, and that's why it is of the utmost   importance to keep updated and clear these two official documents of the Church, the Canon Law and the Catechism, because they synthesize all the laws and teachings of the Church.
