Saint Charles Lwanga and 22 Martyrs of Uganda, 1886
 One of the Martyrs of Uganda who died in the Mwangan persecutions in 1865

    Twenty-two Catholic men, including seventeen young pages between the ages of 13 and 30, plus some Protestants, were martyred by King Mwanga of Uganda. Their heroic courage rivalled that of the early martyrs.

Born 1865 at Bulimu, Buganda, Uganda
Died burned to death in 1886 at Namugongo, Uganda
Canonized 18 October 1964 by Pope Paul VI at Rome, Italy
