St. Abraham Kidunaia, hermit and priest, and his niece St. Mary of Edessa, (†370) and (†375)

    Born wealthy near Edessa, Syria. Forced into an arranged marriage at an early age and fled after the ceremony to become a hermit. Ordained priest, he converted the people of Beth-Kiduna... and his niece, Saint Mary of Edessa who was living a wild and misspent life. Abraham disguised himself as a soldier to convert her.

    His biography was written by his friend Saint Ephrem.
