Saint Ludger, 743-809

The first bishop of Munster, born in Friesland (modern Nederlands), with the gifts of miracles and prophecy.

He was reprimanded and denounced only once during his bishopric - for spending more on charity than on church decoration; and on the day of his death, he celebrated Mass - twice. He died as he foretold, on March 26, 809.
